St. John’s United Church of Christ

St. John's United Church of Christ - Fruitland 04-15-2014While Mother and I were roaming around Jackson and Fruitland, we came upon a shiny white church off Hwy FF that had a cemetery behind it. I hate to disappoint some of you, but that orange orb isn’t a UFO or a spirit materialization: it’s just an internal reflection caused by shooting into the sun.

We had a busy day. Before getting to St. John’s, we visited

Church and cemetery photo gallery

I couldn’t find much information on the church and its cemetery, so I’ll offer up this photo gallery and count on you to tell me more about it. I’m particularly curious about what kind of plant that is. (Wife Lila thinks it’s a Dogwood.)

  1. Dave Schaffner took over as pastor several years ago and retired a year or two ago. He would know more about the history of the church.

  2. Dear Ken,

Sorry to correct you, yet again Dr. Steinholf, but I had a ‘feeling’ about that orange orb in your main picture. So I took the pic to the little gypsy lady palm reader whose house and sign are on the left going towards Jackson on kings highway/hway-61. Madam Stella is also a gifted psychic and has a 92.63℅ accuracy rating in her visions and predictions.

She had never heard of this little town or seen this church before, yet she was able to sense the ‘presence’ in the picture. She offered to do a reading for half her normal price of $29.95 as a favor and because she said her ‘Spirit Guides told her this was important’!

You’ll be glad to know that the orange orb that miracalously appeared in your photo was indeed the aparation of “St.John the’Blessed desciple’ of Jesus” whom was left in charge of caring for Mother Mary as He suffered on the cross. You should have seen Madam Stella’s face when I told her the name of the church! Could have knocked her over with a feather.

So good Dr Steinholf, one of your little snapshots may finally make you famous! And you don’t have to thank me, you deserve some recognition after years and years of hard picture taking and blogging! This could even be the cover photo and feature chapter in your book. I’m sure Madam Stella would write a quotation for the back cover (for half her regular charge – if her guides agree)

So……. you’ve got that going for you.

    Sincerely, Brune Time.

PS: it gives me a warm gushy feeling knowing how much this means to you.
