Teen Age Club Fashion Show

Missourian photographer Fred Lynch dipped into his stash of Frony photos to come up with pictures from a fashion show sometime in the 1950s or 1960s. The first photo ran June 30; the second showed up July 14.

That jogged my memory. I have couple sleeves of negatives that were slugged TAC Fashion Show 1966.

They are pretty unspectacular, but I thought someone might enjoy seeing them. I won’t even try to ID anyone in the photos. I don’t know where the show was held, either. You’ll have to fill in the blanks.

I have another set of photos marked TAC Fashion Show Prep /3/9/67 that I’ll run down the road.

The difference between boys and girls

These little girls were following and critiquing every outfit as it went by.

1,000-Yard Stare

The guys have that thousand-yard-stare, my-watch-must-have-stopped look.

  1. Dana and Tara Kaiser are modeling. The only male model is Don Buckstien. I was more facinated by the “cool cat” wearig the Elton John glasses. He was way ahead of his time! Mary Hirsch was probably a senior which would have been ’66/67

  2. photo #1-Dana Kaiser is model-Tara Kaiser in white dress in audience
    photo #5-Dana Kaiser
    #7-???-Becky McGinty???
#15-Kim Kurka & one of the Bukstein boys
    #18-Beth Ross in audience
    #19-Cathy Rawlins

  3. It’s Don Bukstein (’68) along with other notables, Betsy Foster Rigdon and Donna Ray Feuerhahn (’69). In the audience are Lou and Maggie Foster and Martha Bender (Becky-’69).

  4. Yes, the dapper gentleman in the glasses is my former neighbor, Dr. McGinty, with much of his family, daughter Margarett, son Frank (staring at camera), daughter Becky (?)and son-in-law Mike Richey (?). I think it is Jane McGinty modeling in photo #25.

  5. I believe Roger Call(68)is sitting with the McGinty family. #8-June Siemers? #21-Kathy Christianson Shivelbine?

  6. The two “young” girls are Barbara Brown Norder and Maggie Foster Buhs in pictures #8,9, 10, 12 and 13. Obviously there to see Maggie’s sister, Betsy, model along with all of the beautiful high school girls!

  7. This was the old Teen Age Club (TAC)Fashion Show. The photo 7 is Jane McGinty. At that time I wrote weekly column for the Missourian about the Teen Age Club! This was an event we did.

  8. P.S. I just talked with my Mom about this fashion show and she remembers that the total energy behind it was the indefatigable Selma Bukstein. She remembers that the proceeds from the fashion show were given to help restore the Glenn House. And it was definitely 1967 when I was a senior in high school.

  9. This fashion show was a promotion event for retailers as well. The clothing was provided and styled by local stores and the models were the teens. I walked this show and wore a plum sheath dress with plum shoes sporting crystal heels. Loving the outfit was part of the sales pitch and of course I bought mine. Strange that this outfit is still clear in my mind. Shows how early conditioning can create lasting fashion passion!

  10. PS. Image #14 is me in my “casual” outfit. We each modeled two outfits. I’m thinking now I was runway material. Today the 14 year olds who are taller walk the runways in Paris, so hey…!
