Bill Hopkins Gets Steamed Up

OverheatedI sent a copy of this photo to Bill Hopkins for interpretation. Bill has had a hard time holding a job: he’s been a lawyer, a judge, a goat roper and a far from adequate student body presidential campaign manager. Right now he’s an author, just like Wife Sharon.

Anyway, Friend Bill said, ” I don’t recognize the car but it looks like me under the hood.”

I’m pretty sure the other guys are John Hodges, Kenny Fischer and John Mueller. You can click on the picture to make it large enough to confirm my IDs.

That’s about the right ratio of folks: three people to watch another guy stare at a motor. I have to give Bill credit. Based on my long relationship with him, I would have thought he would have opened the trunk and not the hood to look for the reason the car wouldn’t run.

  1. John Hodges, Kenny Fischer, John Mueller and Bill Hopkins; that would be the answer to the strangest question of the 60’s. I guess the Oldsmobile’s thermostat got stuck, that was what usually happened in those olden tymes to cars. Not Hodges car, or Fisher’s either and way too cool for Hopkins (not me, Bill) maybe Mueller’s dad’s car? This sounds like a mystery to me! Maybe a retired Judge could solve this mystery for Bill.

  2. I do not remember that car. I do know Mueller and I rented an apartment together when we went to Mizzou. Perhaps that is why Mueller hasn’t spoken to me since 1968.

  3. I thought about it too, and that probably is Mike Rogers! I remember him having those dumb white sneakers…and the nose is Rogers….so that answer would be Mike Roger, John Hodges, John Mueller and a steaming Bill Hopkins….

Wow, where are you? Haven’t seen or heard from you since 1966. You were my good buddy back then. I don’t live in Cape anymore but I still have a few family members left there. Hope life has been good to you old friend.

      1. Darla Yow. Good to hear from you. It has been a very long time! Went to school at Oklahoma State University after Central graduation, then stayed in Oklahoma. Have a commercial construction business here now. Life has been very good overall. Hope the same is true for you. b.kaiser@sbcglobal.net
