Ken,
I remember that station very well, growing up in the Red Star District in the 50's and 60's. I remember in 1967/68 when my cousin David Langston bought his first Corvette, and I went with him down there where we hand washed it for the first time. My folks bought gas there all the time, and I can remember sitting out on the front ledge and watching the people working. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

Ken,

Was that also later Edwards 66 Station on Main Street? I'm talking in the late 60s and maybe early 70s. We lived in the 1600 block of North Main St. and would always stop at Edwards 66 Station where we would get gas and my dad would buy his cigars.

Thanks!

My grandfather, Charles "Hoppy" Herbst had a station(s) at Broadway and Henderson. He died in Sept 1954 and my grandma had to sell the equipment and close the station. I have been looking through old pictures from the attic and did not locate any pictures from the old station. If anyone visiting the website has any old photos, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hey Ken:
I guess you were too young to have any pictures from "Hoppys Service Station(s)" at Broadway/Henderson?

Rebecca,

Thanks for the note. I'm always curious how folks stumble onto the site. Were you searching for something?

I lived across from Brune &Eaker service station for years that I lived with my grandmother. I remember them from the time we would visit when I was young. I love your site I found it by accident. I went to Central but left in 1962,would have graduated in '64.
