The one in Lone Oak comes to mind.

St. Charles Hotel–sounds like some of the establishments we stayed at on speech and debate trips. At 5 p.m. the men's short-sleeved dress shirts went on sale (seems to me the price was $5.00). The floor manager went down with a big box of shirts, which he dumped out on the table. The crowd of women surged forward, almost knocking him down, snatching and grabbing shirts, as many as they could carry. I guess they sorted through the sizes after they had their shirts, trading with the other women for the sizes they wanted. I had never seen anything like it and was quite horrified!
It was a wonderful store, with kind-hearted employees who helped me with my wedding in March, 1963, and who told stories from the then not-so-distant past, when Main Street flooded.

I was a SEMO junior in 1963, working part-time at the old J.C.
