Advance Band

Undated Advance BandI don’t think these folks are getting ready to march in a Fourth of July parade (unless it was a whole lot cooler Back in The Day).

Mother couldn’t identify any of the band members, and the building doesn’t look like any place I’ve seen. Click on the photo to see more detail.

  1. I don’t doubt that your mom can’t identify any of these people. Based on the stylish, leg-of-mutton sleeves the young lady with the euphonium is wearing, this photo probably dates to between 1890 and 1900.

Sometimes, you can date a photograph from the processing, but the women’s fashions and hair styles are usually a dead giveaway.

  2. The curved door suggests the original school building circa 1924. Representative of a Palladium door.

  3. It could the fourth of July! I have 1929 picture of of the Dunedin Boat Club and they are ALL in coats and ties at their annual summer meeting in Dunedin Florida. No air in those days everyone in wool coats and ties with hats too. So this maybe the 4th of July. People were hardy in those days, we are whimps it seems.
